Less Is More for Non-Dislocated Femoral Neck Fractures: Similar Results for Two versus Three Cannulated Hip Screws

چکیده

Cannulated hip screws (CHS) can be used for the minimally invasive fixation of non-dislocated femoral neck fractures. Usually, three are inserted. This study aims to determine whether by two CHS leads similar results as CHS. Since January 2019, all patients with an indication internal were treated and followed prospectively. Results compared equal-sized control group who underwent (before 2019). The primary outcome was reoperation, while secondary screw dislocation. 50 Of these, 14 (28%) reoperation versus 13 (26%) in (p = 1.000). Reoperations included replacement, hemiarthroplasty, total prosthesis. Three major reasons pain due osteosynthesis material (n 15), coxarthrosis 4), cut out 3). Six weeks postoperative X-rays showed a dislocation 2 mm 1 0.330). Clinical outcomes very between groups. overall good; however, rate varied from 26 28%. majority reoperations replacements. Screw seems more prominent (2 mm). Fixation cannulated is acceptable treatment method fractures, insertion third does not lead superior clinical results.

Comparing Therapeutic Outcomes of Dynamic Hip Screw and Multiple Cannulated Screws as Internal Fixation in Femoral Neck Fractures

Background and purpose: Femoral neck fracture is associated with a high rate of side effects, especially in young people, who are usually affected by severe energy shocks. Results after injury depend on some factors, including displacement, fragility, bleeding rate, proper placement, and stable and strong fixation. The aim of this study was to compare dynamic hip screw (DHS) or multiple cannula...

In-Hospital Outcomes after Hemiarthroplasty versus Total Hip Arthroplasty for Isolated Femoral Neck Fractures

Background:    Previous studies suggest total hip arthroplasty may have some benefits compared to hemi-arthroplasty for displaced intracapsular femoral neck fractures in patients more than 60 years of age. The primary research question of our study was whether in-hospital adverse events, post-operative length of stay (LOS) and mortality in patients 60 year of age or older differed between tot...

Cannulated versus non-cannulated cancellous screw fixation for femoral neck fractures: a synthetic bone biomechanical study

Purpose. To compare the compressive strength of cannulated versus non-cannulated cancellous screws for undisplaced femoral neck fractures in synthetic bones. Methods. 18 synthetic proximal femurs simulating an AO B1 valgus impacted femoral neck fracture in osteoporotic bone were used. The fracture angles were between 55o and 63o (Pauwels grade 2). Fixation was made using 6.5-mm non-cannulated s...

Osteosynthesis of Femoral Neck Fractures: Two or Three Screws?

OBJECTIVES To evaluate the efficacy of osteosynthesis on femoral neck fractures using two instead of three screws. METHODS Thirty-nine fractures were retrospectively evaluated, divided into groups in which two screws were used in parallel (n = 28) or three screws (n =11) in an inverted triangle configuration (in accordance with the AO technique). The patients were then followed up until reach...

Proximal femoral locking plate with cannulated screws for the treatment of femoral neck fractures.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the proximal femoral locking plate with cannulated screws for the treatment of femoral neck fractures. A prospective study was performed in 41 patients with femoral neck fractures treated with a proximal femoral locking plate with cannulated screws between January 2005 and December 2008. Twenty-five men and 16 women had a mean...
